Job Summary
Conduct diagnostic imaging coverage including fluoroscopy, CT, and MR procedures while administering contrast agents and medications as prescribed. Perform patient risk assessments, obtain informed consent, and monitor patients for medical emergencies such as anaphylaxis or cardiac arrest. Evaluate vital signs, review medical records to verify procedure appropriateness, and communicate findings to the supervising radiologist. Document adverse reactions, extravasations, and post-care instructions; participate in quality improvement activities and clinical research protocols. Maintain BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications, pursue annual CME requirements, and serve as a clinical resource for peer education.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an A.S.R.T approved Registered Radiologist Assistant Program
- Current registration by the New York State Department of Education as a Registered Radiologic Assistant (R.R.A.)
- Able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
- Maintains BLS/CPR, and ACLS certifications
- Able to monthly check full complement of emergency medications and reorder and update them prior to expiration
- Able to recognize and initiate treatment for anaphylaxis
- Aware of backup procedures during an emergency
- Maintains annual CME requirement for re-appointment and privileging
- Maintains RA board certification
