Job Summary
Perform special procedure examinations in CT and radiographic procedures while observing safe radiation protection practices. Prepare examination trays, operate imaging equipment for processing and archiving, and monitor patients during procedures. Receiving requisitions, entering data into the radiology information system, and documenting clinical history for quality improvement initiatives. Prepares contrast agents by filling syringes and mixing barium solutions. Sets up trays, disposes of items per policy, and cleans instruments for the Medical Device Reprocessing Department. Ensures adherence to departmental standards and provides input into quality assurance checks. May supervise staff, prepare work schedules, and oversee daily operations. Conducts equipment tests and participates in research projects.
Required Qualifications
- Certification with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT)
- Completion of an advanced specialty program in Computed Tomography
- One (1) year recent, related experience including supervisory experience and experience in radiology procedures
- Completion of an Intravenous Therapy training course when required by site practice
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification - Basic Life Support (BCLS) level
- Demonstrated knowledge of standards of practice and guidelines for Medical Imaging practitioners
- Knowledgeable in evidence based practice related to designated modality
- Demonstrated knowledge of current General Radiography and CT theory and practices within a client/family centered model of care
- Familiarity with organization policies, procedures, and standards of care, including safe work practices with modality equipment
- Proficient in PACS/Radiology Information Systems, encompassing digital imaging, image archiving, and retrieval
- Proficient in CPR techniques
- Proficiency in computer skills, including the effective use of a computerized client care information system
- Demonstrated skill in CT techniques and the use of applicable equipment and supplies
- Must be available for the evening, night and weekend shift
- Must be able to supervise at least one (1) other Radiological Technologist or a total staff of more than two (2) up to and including four (4) FTE
- Valid criminal record check
