Job Summary
Perform routine diagnostic radiographic examinations and selected special procedures while preparing and positioning patients according to protocols. Produce high-quality images, review completed studies for technical quality, and apply radiation-safety principles to minimize unnecessary exposure. Educate patients and families regarding examinations, provide age-appropriate care across neonatal to geriatric populations, and assist physicians during procedures when needed. Maintain equipment through quality assurance testing and calibrations, document patient information in RIS/PACS systems, and coordinate patient transport. Communicate urgent imaging results to providers and participate in staff meetings and continuing education. Maintain required ARRT registration, NY State license, and IV certification upon hire.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certificate from an accredited Radiologic Technology program or hospital-based radiography program
- ARRT registration in Radiography – RT(R) upon hire
- New York State Department of Health Radiologic Technologist license upon hire, or qualifying Limited Permit
- American Heart Association BLS certification within 90 days of hire
- New York State DOH IV certification within 180 days of hire
- Strong knowledge of diagnostic radiography and radiation safety
- Strong patient-positioning and image-quality skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
- Ability to assess and respond to changing patient and department needs
- Strong communication, organization, and customer-service skills
- Ability to maintain required continuing-education credits
Desired Qualifications
- Previous outpatient or hospital-based Radiologic Technologist experience
- Experience with special-procedure imaging
- Experience using RIS and PACS systems
- Previous experience providing clinical instruction to students
- Experience caring for patients across a broad range of ages
