Job Summary
Operate digital fluoroscopic and portable radiology equipment to obtain routine radiographs of designated body areas according to physician specifications and protocols. Provide services for patients of all ages while adhering to radiation safety policies, ensuring proper patient identification and image labeling for technical quality. Participate in performance improvement initiatives to enhance workflows and patient experience, while actively supporting student and employee training activities. Maintain a clean, safe work environment by cleaning patient rooms and managing inventory supplies. Communicate effectively with patients to obtain medical history, explain procedures, and address physical or psychological needs. Perform quality control activities to ensure equipment maintenance and promptly report environmental issues. Prioritize patient flow by coordinating care with the team, documenting activities in electronic health records, and distributing final images to the PACS system. Work a 1pm-5pm schedule four days a week as part of MedStar Washington Hospital Center's mission-driven team.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree
- Certificate in Radiologic Technology (awarded before January 1, 2015) from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE), the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or the Medical Education and Training Campus (METC)
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Licensed Radiologic Technologist in the applicable state (Maryland or Virginia)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
