Job Summary
Operate digital fluoroscopic and portable radiology equipment to obtain routine radiographs of designated body areas per physician specifications and protocols. Provide services for patients of all ages while ensuring radiation safety, proper patient identification, and image labeling. Maintain a clean, safe work environment, manage supplies, and perform quality control activities on equipment. Communicate effectively with patients to obtain medical history, explain procedures, and address physical or psychological needs. Prioritize patient flow, coordinate care with the team, document activities in electronic health records, and distribute images to the PACS system. Participate in performance improvement initiatives and student or employee training. This role supports patient-centered care at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital within the largest healthcare system in the Maryland–Washington, D.C., region.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree
- Certificate in Radiologic Technology (awarded before January 1, 2015) from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE), the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or the Medical Education and Training Campus (METC)
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Licensed Radiologic Technologist in the applicable state (Maryland or Virginia)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
