Job Summary
Operate digital fluoroscopic and portable radiology equipment to obtain routine radiographs of designated body areas according to physician specifications and protocols. Utilize radiology knowledge to provide services for patients of all ages while adhering to radiation safety policies, ensuring proper patient identification and image labeling. Participate in departmental performance improvement initiatives, student and employee training, and educational activities. Maintain a clean, safe work environment, manage supplies and inventory, and perform quality control activities on equipment. Communicate effectively with patients to obtain medical history, explain procedures, and address physical and psychological needs. Prioritize patient flow, coordinate care with the team, document activities in electronic health records, and distribute final images to the PACS system. Work 1pm-5pm four days a week as part of MedStar Health's largest healthcare system in the Maryland–Washington, D.C., region.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree
- Certificate in Radiologic Technology (awarded before January 1, 2015) from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE), the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or the Medical Education and Training Campus (METC)
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Licensed Radiologic Technologist in the applicable state (Maryland or Virginia)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
