Job Summary
Produce high-quality digital radiographs by adjusting equipment, positioning patients, and determining proper kVp and mAs settings while adhering to ALARA radiation protection guidelines. Gather patient history, obtain additional films for questionable cases, and maintain a clean, organized x-ray room. Report equipment issues, answer phones for scheduling, and observe universal precautions including pregnancy screening. Wear radiation monitoring devices, assist with QA data collection, and maintain certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Demonstrate proficiency in eCW, RIS, and PACS systems. Act as a clinical mentor to radiography students from SMTC, providing guidance and performing competency testing. Serve as a resource for staff regarding exam selection and study scheduling.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of AMA accredited radiology program
- State of Maine and ARRT licensed
- Ability to use independent judgment
- Ability to interact well with radiologists
- Ability to interact in a positive manner with co-workers and other members of the InterMed staff
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast paced work environment, providing excellent customer service
- Ability to make adjustments in daily work schedule to accommodate add-on patients for same day exams
