Job Summary

Obtain complete patient histories and produce quality radiographs by selecting proper technical factors and applying ALARA principles. Operate x-ray equipment, process films using an automatic processor, and assemble images for radiologist interpretation. Assist patients in transport, manage RIS/EHR/PACS workflows, and maintain department cleanliness and orderliness. Provide orientation to new staff, report equipment failures, and comply with OSHA and incident reporting policies. Work varying shifts including Ambulatory Surgery, Pain Clinic, and Diagnostic Radiology with weekend and holiday rotations. Maintain current ARRT certification, CPR within 30 days, and adhere to Springfield Clinic's Code of Conduct and ethics standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a graduate of an approved A.C.R. school or must be a graduate of a JRCERT approved school of Radiology
  • Must provide proof of current active certification with the ARRT
  • Must maintain current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiography
  • Must have temporary accreditation in Radiography with the Illinois Emergency Management Agency, Division of Nuclear Safety
  • CPR per American Heart Association guidelines required within 30 days of hire
  • Must maintain professional behavior
  • Must be able to adjust to various personalities
  • Must have the ability to control emotions and maintain composure under stress, using tact and good judgment
  • Must possess manual dexterity to use keyboard and handle equipment and appliances
  • Must have the ability to perform occasional heavy lifting, i.e. transferring patients to x-ray tables
  • Must be capable of pushing, pulling, stooping, bending, lifting and twisting
  • Must be able with help to lift patient from cart to table
  • Must be able to work with arms above head
  • Must be able to wear lead apron for long periods of time
  • Must be able to walk and/or stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to assist patient to and from the table
  • Must work in a specialty location (i.e. ASC, Ortho, Urgent Care etc.) at least 80% of the time and/or take part in the departmental weekend and holiday rotation
  • Or working as a Float, defined by the Imaging Operations Manager
  • Must comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures
  • Must adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy
  • Must provide excellent customer service and adhere to Springfield Clinic's Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards
  • Knowledge of computer systems: RIS (to include, but not limited to scheduling/rescheduling/replacing exams, completing exams, patient history, enter comments, enter stop payments and print features)
  • Knowledge of computer systems: EHR
  • Knowledge of computer systems: PACS
  • Knowledge of computer systems: Employee Benefit system
  • Knowledge of computer systems: Radiology home page
  • Knowledge of sterile procedure and of sterilization procedure for sterile supplies
  • Knowledge of general scheduler duties
  • Knowledge of Prompt Care workflow
  • Knowledge of workflow to obtain reports on images
  • Knowledge of DR/DRX image acquisition and manipulation, including correcting data regarding patient information and image detail in PACS
  • Knowledgeable of all procedures and protocols in the Surgery department, Pain Clinic and Radiology department
  • Ability to operate a C-Arm if working in ASC/Pain Clinic
