Job Summary

Perform diagnostic radiographs by applying ionizing radiation under established protocols while obtaining patient histories and selecting proper technical factors using ALARA principles. Operate equipment including C-Arms when assigned in Ambulatory Surgery or Pain Clinic, process films automatically, and assemble images for radiologist interpretation. Manage patient transport across the Springfield Clinic campus, troubleshoot equipment failures, and maintain orderliness and cleanliness in the department. Assist physicians with practical applications, provide proper shielding, and support new staff through orientation and training. Adhere to strict radiation safety standards, sterile procedures, and HIPAA privacy requirements while reporting incidents and managing supplies.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a graduate of an approved A.C.R. school or must be a graduate of a JRCERT approved school of Radiology
  • Must provide proof of current active certification with the ARRT
  • Must maintain current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiography
  • CPR per American Heart Association guidelines required within 30 days of hire
  • Must be able to adjust to various personalities
  • Must have the ability to control emotions and maintain composure under stress, using tact and good judgment
  • Must possess manual dexterity to use keyboard and handle equipment and appliances
  • Must have the ability to perform occasional heavy lifting, i.e. transferring patients to x-ray tables
  • Must be able to work with arms above head
  • Must be able to wear lead apron for long periods of time
  • Must be able to walk and/or stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to assist patient to and from the table
  • Must be able to push, pull, stoop, bend, lift and twist
  • Must be able to lift patient from cart to table with help
  • Must work in a specialty location (i.e. ASC, Ortho, Urgent Care etc.) at least 80% of the time and/or take part in the departmental weekend and holiday rotation
  • Or working as a Float, defined by the Imaging Operations Manager
  • HIPAA2

Desired Qualifications

  • May have temporary accreditation in Radiography with the Illinois Emergency Management Agency, Division of Nuclear Safety
