Job Summary
Radiologic Technologist for a hospital in Marrero, LA. Performs diagnostic X-ray examinations including portables in the ER and ICU, operates X-ray equipment (fixed/portable, C-arms), applies ALARA principles, verifies orders and pregnancy status, processes and reviews images for diagnostic quality and labeling, and transmits to PACS for radiologist interpretation. Maintains a safe work environment, assists with fluoroscopic procedures (e.g., upper GI, barium enema, arthrograms), and documents exams in EMR/RIS. Requires an accredited Radiology program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree), active Louisiana state license (LRT), ARRT certification, current BLS, and at least one year of relevant experience. Proficient in imaging, radiation safety, PACS, and patient positioning, with strong attention to detail and teamwork.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Completion of an accredited Radiology program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology)
- Licensure: Active Louisiana state license (LRT) and current BLS Certification. ARRT certification is required
- Experience: At least one year of relevant field experience as a Radiologic Technologist is required
- Technical Skills: Proficient in operating X-ray equipment (fixed and portable), C-arms, and PACS; skilled in patient positioning, radiation safety (ALARA), and image critique
- Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail; excellent patient communication and bedside manner; ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment; critical thinking for adjusting techniques based on patient condition
- Key Responsibilities: Perform diagnostic X-ray examinations on patients of all ages, including portables in ER/ICU; position patients; verify orders and pregnancy status; process and review images; operate and maintain imaging equipment; assist radiologists with fluoroscopic procedures; document examinations in EMR/RIS; ensure safety and infection control
