Job Summary
Collaborate with providers and medical assistants on patient care, organization, and communication. Use professional judgment to deliver imaging services, applying X-ray technology for patients of all ages. Prepare patients for examination, verify patient information, record medical history, and conduct point-of-care testing as needed. Perform and analyze patient x-rays, reporting results to medical providers. Ensure patients are positioned correctly and protected during use. Maintain medical records, scanning charts, and conduct courtesy call-backs for follow-up. Perform routine equipment maintenance, cleaning, and calibration while managing necessary supplies. Adhere to strict radiation safety protocols and ALARA principles to minimize exposure.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program
- Experience in a clinical setting
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification obtained through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA)
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration
- State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist
- Knowledge of X-ray procedures and protocols
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform X-ray testing including body mechanics and patient movement
- Knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology
- Ability to position patients properly for the X-ray procedure required
- Ability to identify equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor
- Ability to follow infection control and radiological safety procedures
