Job Summary

Perform a wide variety of technical procedures with quality patient care, assisting physicians as needed. Verify physician written orders and assure appropriate clinical indications before beginning exams in IDXrad. Accurately complete exams, fill out required information including contrast and fluoroscopy time, provide correct coding and billing modifiers, and ensure proper documentation and labeling. Deliver pre- and post-procedure education to patients and families regarding the procedure, duration, contrast administration, and positioning while maintaining confidentiality. Position patients according to department protocols, use imaging equipment and agents safely, and implement universal precautions. Assist radiologists during procedures using sterile techniques to prevent cross-contamination, observe patient status changes, and follow advanced directives. Perform proper procedures on the correct patient while maintaining strict patient confidentiality and reporting any status changes to ensure positive outcomes.

Required Qualifications

  • Satisfactory completion of formal training program in an AMA approved school
  • Meets the requirements of an appropriate State and/or Federal mandated certification or equivalent
  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association
  • Radiologic Technologist Fluoroscopy Permit - CA Department of Public Health
  • ARRT Certificate - ARRT
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) - CA Department of Public Health
  • Join the union within 31 days of hire
  • Remain a member of the union for the duration of the collective bargaining agreement
  • Verify physicians written order
  • Assure appropriate clinical indication of ordered exams
  • Begin exams in IDXrad
  • Accurately complete exams in IDXrad
  • Fill out appropriate information (contrast, fluoroscopy time, QC, resource, technical modifiers, technologist/student/RN/Radiologist)
  • Provide correct coding of exams
  • Provide correct billing modifiers
  • Provide correct supplies coding
  • Ensure film jacket is properly labeled
  • Ensure paperwork is filed appropriately
  • Provide pre and post procedure education
  • Provide reassurance to patients
  • Communicate and interact with patients in a manner reflecting understanding of patient's age, culture, state of health, level of comprehension
  • Communicate and interact with patient's family in a way perceived positive and supportive while maintaining patient confidentiality
  • Produce high quality exams
  • Understand and apply appropriate imaging techniques
  • Position according to department imaging protocols
  • Label and identify studies correctly using legal marker set
  • Use imaging equipment proficiently
  • Use imaging agents (contrast) according to protocol
  • Verify patient identification
  • Verify pregnancy status
  • Assist Radiologist in procedures while practicing sterile techniques to prevent cross-contamination
  • Perform proper procedure on proper patient
  • Demonstrate knowledge of universal precautions and sterile techniques
  • Observe the patient
  • Report any changes in patient status
  • Initiate appropriate action to ensure a positive outcome
  • Follow patient's Advanced Directive
  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality
  • Keep work discussion professional and limited to private areas
  • Weekend Requirements: As Needed
  • On-Call Required: Yes
  • AWS Hours Requirement: 10/40 - 10 Hour Shift
  • Wednesday - Saturday 1330-2400
