Job Summary

Acquire quality radiographs and perform fluoroscopy guidance for diagnostic, surgical, and therapeutic purposes using portable X-ray, c-arm, and diagnostic equipment. Operate all radiographic rooms independently while troubleshooting issues, preparing patients, and administering contrast agents. Track studies, verify paperwork, and monitor PACS for problem reports. Document exam details including time, image counts, and clinical information. Rotate through scheduled room assignments, shifts, and campuses as needed, maintaining flexibility for departmental requirements. Mentor radiologic technology students and adhere to all hospital policies and Ellis Medicine behaviors.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate from an approved Radiologic Technology education program
  • ARRT required
  • New York State license in Radiologic Technology is required
  • Must be able to problem-solve and troubleshoot issues independently
  • Must be able to and willing to work independently in all areas of the diagnostic radiology department
  • Must be willing to perform medical assistant duties as necessary
  • Must be competent and willing to participate in all OR procedures
  • Must be capable of operating all radiographic rooms and all equipment including the fluoroscopy, portables, c-arms and diagnostic radiographic equipment
  • Must keep up to date on department and hospital policies, department protocols, radiographic study protocols, and hospital work rules
  • Must be able to and willing to rotate out of scheduled room assignments and possibly shift assignments
  • Must be willing to participate in shift rotation
  • Must be willing to work weekends when scheduled or needed
  • Must be willing to change of shift when needed
  • Must be able to and abide by the mandate list
  • Must be able and willing to rotate through other campuses as required or needed
  • Must abide by the Ellis Medicine Behaviors and Standards
  • Must abide by all departmental and hospital policies and procedures
  • Must not sleep while on the clock or during the shift
  • Must clean and stock the department during downtime
  • Must maintain 16 hours /month in each department intended to work in
  • Must be a role model for the department of radiology
  • Must be willing to mentor and teach radiologic technology students from affiliated x-ray programs
  • Should be able to push/pull, lift/move 35 lb.
  • Must be able to perform moderately difficult manual manipulations such as using a keyboard, writing, and filing for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination such as data entry, typing and using photo copiers
  • Must be able to be stationary at a workstation for a prolonged period of time
  • Must be able to squat or be mobile for a reasonable length of time and distance
  • Must be able to comprehend the spoken English language
  • Must be able to communicate and read the English language

Desired Qualifications

  • New graduates will receive a temporary permit that is valid for 6 months or until they successfully pass the ARRT Radiology boards
  • If a new graduate fails to pass the ARRT Radiology board, they will have 10 days to work, at which time their temporary permit will be rescinded
  • They will not be able to work as a Radiologic Technologist until successful completion of passing the ARRT Radiology boards
