Job Summary
Design, execute, and automate test activities for complex RF and mixed-signal hardware using spectrum analysers, VNAs, signal generators, and oscilloscopes. Characterise wireless communication systems by measuring gain, bandwidth, sensitivity, noise figure, and dynamic range while developing Python-based automated test solutions. Support hardware integration, bring-up, and fault-finding to ensure products meet performance and reliability standards before deployment. Produce clear technical documentation, test reports, and repeatable procedures to resolve technical issues within multidisciplinary engineering teams. Contribute to high-quality technology delivery for defence and secure communications applications, supporting UK national security programmes with advanced wireless sensing and electronic systems.
Required Qualifications
- Experience testing, validating or characterising RF or wireless communication systems
- Strong hands on RF laboratory experience
- Experience developing automated test scripts using Python
- Good understanding of RF measurement techniques and signal chain performance
- Strong analytical skills with a methodical approach to troubleshooting and problem solving
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within engineering teams
- Current SC Security Clearance, or eligibility to obtain clearance
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Software Defined Radio (SDR)
- Knowledge of SCPI or instrument API automation
- Previous experience within the defence, aerospace, telecommunications or secure communications sectors
