Job Summary
Competently perform routine and specialized radiation treatments in accordance with physician-developed plans, exercising sound judgment to deliver accurate results in a timely manner. Execute safe procedures through competent patient assessment, attentive monitoring, and effective communication while gaining patient cooperation. Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations to ensure privacy and safety, including protecting patient protected health information. Perform specific procedures and orient staff to the department as needed. Work independently within standardized operating procedures to prioritize assignments and resolve standard problems using established solutions. Maintain collaboration with peers and healthcare providers to achieve departmental objectives while managing interruptions in a busy clinical environment.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited Radiation Therapy Program
- ARRT - Radiography - American Register of Radiologic Technologists
- RHTT-Therapeutic Radiologic Technology by the Radiologic Health Branch
- RHA-Diagnostic and Therapeutic Radiologic Technology by the Radiologic Health Branch
- BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
- 2 years recent relevant experience
- General knowledge of radiation therapy principles, procedures, views, and equipment
- Some experience responding to traumas and various hospital emergencies
- Capable of performing routine radiation treatment and simulations
- Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
- Written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people
- Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines
- General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook) and related information systems (Radiology (RIS), laboratory (LIS), electronic health records (EHR), EPIC, and picture archive and communication system (PACS))
- Ability to work independently, as well as be part of the team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions
- Ability to identify, evaluate and resolve standard problems by selecting appropriate solutions from established options
- Ability to ensure the privacy of each patient's protected health information (PHI)
