Job Summary
The Radiation Therapist leads daily operations of the treatment area to deliver high-quality radiation therapy care under the Radiation Oncologist, Physicist, and Manager. Responsibilities include setting up treatment rooms and devices, identifying and monitoring patients during treatment, positioning patients per prescriptions, coordinating treatment area activities and scheduling, documenting in treatment records, performing simulations and brachytherapy procedures, conducting daily quality checks on equipment, maintaining equipment, and ensuring adherence to radiation safety practices. Provides ancillary duties as needed and supports overall patient care in the radiation oncology service line. The role requires strong communication, adaptability, and the ability to work in a high-stress environment; licensure and ARRT certification plus CPR are required.
Required Qualifications
- License in State of practice in Radiation Oncology (required, except for candidates hired to acute care sites in Virginia)
- Radiation Oncology Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (required)
- CPR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification (required)
- 1 year Experience in Radiation Therapy and CT Simulation (preferred)
