Job Summary
Administer radiation therapy as prescribed by a physician, delivering prescribed courses to patients while providing continuous monitoring during treatment. Schedule daily appointments, answer patient questions, and explain procedures, serving as a liaison to reinforce care recommendations and observe for unusual reactions. Monitor equipment inventory, follow safety regulations, and participate in CT simulation procedures. Train and mentor new radiation therapists and students, supporting colleagues with current or new department equipment and procedures. Participate in on-call rotations as applicable. Maintain current knowledge of developments, trends, and techniques in radiation therapy and equipment. Travel between LVHN/LVPG Radiation Oncology sites as necessary.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree Radiation Therapy or equivalent
- Technical School Diploma Accredited Radiation Therapy Program
- Analytical ability to resolve problems that require the use of basic scientific, mathematical, or technical principles
- Ability to keep confidential information regarding patients, and team members
- Ability to exchange information on factual matters, schedule appointments, record treatment data in patients' records, greet visitors, explain hospital policies, and/or relay patients' needs to appropriate personnel
- Knowledge and experience with electronic health records
- BLS - Basic Life Support AHA - American Heart Association within 90 Days
- T - Radiation Therapy - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Within 180 Days
- Travels between LVHN/LVPG Radiation Oncology sites as necessary
- Participates in on-call
- Lift and carry 40-50 lbs
- Frequent to continuous standing/walking
- Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift
- Perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR
