Job Summary
The Radiation Therapist applies ionizing radiation to oncology patients per the Radiation Oncologist's instructions, ensuring accurate treatment records, managing orders for specific exams, and acting as a liaison between patients, their families, and medical staff. Responsibilities include administering treatments, maintaining patient schedules, performing quality control checks, and documenting all billing related to patient therapy. Essential qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Radiation Therapy Technology, ARRT registration, state licensure, and BLS certification, alongside excellent communication and computer skills. Flexibility in scheduling is necessary to meet departmental needs.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited program in Radiation Therapy Technology
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 90 days of hire
- Licensed in the state of practice by the Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners within 90 days of hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Must have computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in the fabrication of contours, cases and patient immobilization devices
