Job Summary
Administer safe and accurate radiation therapy treatments while ensuring precise delivery, data capture, and adherence to clinical judgment standards. Prepare rooms and equipment, operate complex radiation-emitting units, and visually monitor patients for unusual reactions, reporting events to the radiation oncologist. Explain procedures clearly, answer patient questions, and refer patients to allied health specialists as needed. Perform and maintain quality assurance activities, including daily treatment records, machine QA, portal image reviews, and verifying consent forms before administration. Complete formal Clinical Instructor training and actively instruct and evaluate radiation therapy students. Adhere to departmental policies, guidelines, and procedures, completing internal variance forms for errors within 24 hours.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a graduate of a JRCERT accredited program in radiation therapy or a suitable equivalent
- Certified and registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy
- Must be certified and licensed by the New Mexico Environment Departments Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Program within 30 days of hire
