Job Summary
Operate linear accelerators and other radiation therapy equipment to deliver prescribed courses of radiation therapy to cancer patients. Accurately position patients, administer treatments according to physician prescriptions, and perform simulation procedures, dosimetry, calculations, and delivery of ionizing radiation. Provide patient education, monitor for side effects, maintain treatment records, and conduct daily quality assurance checks while adhering to safety protocols and regulatory guidelines. Ensure delivery of specific prescribed radiation treatment procedures using photon and electron beams. Maintain current Therapeutic Radiology license issued by the state of California and one of several required radiation technologist certificates.
Required Qualifications
- Must possess and maintain a current Therapeutic Radiology license issued by the state of California (RRTT).
- Must possess and maintain one of the following certificates: Current Registered Technologist Radiography ARRT (RTR), Registered Technologist Bone Densitometry (RTBD), Registered Technologist Computed Tomography (RTCT), Registered Technologist Cardio Interventional Radiography (RTCV), Registered Technologist Mammography (RTM), Registered Technologist Magnetic Resonance Imaging (RTMR), Registered Technologist Nuclear Medicine Technology (RTN), Registered Technologist Quality Management (RTQM), ...
- Must possess and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate.
- Demonstrated skill in the use of knowledge of radiation therapy equipment i.e. linear accelerators simulators dosimetry and block cutting.
- Quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire.
Desired Qualifications
- Three (3) years supervisory experience in radiation oncology.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing to diverse groups and individuals.
- Plan organize and control the work of others.
- Delegate responsibilities effectively.
- Exercise good judgment and tact in providing strong leadership guidance and assistance.
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations and JCAHO standards.
