Job Summary
Implement patients' planned radiation courses as prescribed by oncologists, strictly adhering to predetermined treatment parameters from simulation and planning. Coordinate multidisciplinary continuity of care across internal and external departments while reinforcing patient education on diet and side effects. Precept new employees on computer systems, policies, procedures, and radiation therapy technology. Document all patient data, well-being, charges, and procedures to facilitate continuum of care. Maintain equipment by reporting malfunctions and ensure compliance with all state and federal radiation statutes. Participate in weekend and holiday call rotations, morning warm-ups, and community educational events.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited school of Radiation Therapy
- ARRT registered
- Maintains current licensure by the State of Florida
- Maintains current BLS/Healthcare provider certification
- One (1) year experience in Radiation Therapy
- Must participate in weekend call rotation as needed
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures
- Demonstrates an understanding of all governmental statutes and regulations regarding the application of ionizing radiation on both the state and federal levels
- Responsible for obtaining all continuing education requirements as set forth by the professional and state licensure organizations regulating the profession
- Demonstrates aptitude in all areas of radiation therapy including, but not limited to, teletherapy, brachytherapy (HDR) (LDR), radiosurgery, stereotactic radiotherapy and to a lesser extent physics, dosimetry and nursing
- Flexibility in hours worked to accommodate patient and departmental needs is essential
- The therapist is expected to participate in community service and center wide educational events
- Must have developed the essential skills and demeanor to precept new employees in the department
