Job Summary
Radiation Protection Technician role performing radiological testing in Station and surrounding areas, calibrating instruments for detecting alpha, beta, gamma, and neutron radiation, implementing radiation clearance procedures, assisting in preparing radioactive material for safe containment during shipment, designating posting areas, training employees, and maintaining records. Responsibilities include decontamination of personnel and equipment, ensuring safe work areas, and reporting abnormal conditions while adhering to prescribed safety rules and station procedures. The position requires two years of experience in radiological control, thorough knowledge of nuclear-safety practices, and the ability to follow orders to ensure safety and cooperation among staff.
Required Qualifications
- Must meet the Company's General Qualifications; must have all the qualifications of Assistant Radiological Control Tester; must have two (2) years' experience as Assistant Radiological Control Tester, or the equivalent; must have demonstrated ability in the performance of the duties of Assistant Radiological Control Tester; must have completed prescribed courses; thorough working knowledge of safety rules and regulatory agency requirements applicable to nuclear power plant operation; knowledge of decontamination techniques for tools and equipment; safeguarding personnel and equipment from excessive radiation exposure; health safety practices in radiological environments; familiarity with tagging and posting rules; ability to receive, interpret and pass on orders to maintain harmony and safety.
