Job Summary
Conduct general diagnostic radiological imaging studies of patients by positioning them for correct anatomy/pathology, operating radiation-producing equipment, and managing electronic radiology systems. Prepare patient rooms, equipment, and medications while maintaining adequate supply inventory. Explain examinations and procedures to patients and complete departmental documentation. Swing shift schedule with 1 year of experience required; grandfathered military radiologic technologist training accepted in lieu of ARRT registry. Located at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, a Level I Adult Trauma Center and Magnet hospital serving Eastern Virginia Medical School.
Required Qualifications
- Conducts general diagnostic radiological imaging studies of patients, within scope of demonstrated competency under the direction of a qualified physician
- Positioning of patient for demonstration of correct anatomy/pathology
- Operation of radiation producing equipment
- Operation of the electronic radiology systems
- Preparation of patient room/equipment/medications
- Maintains adequate supply inventory
- Explains examination and procedure to patients
- Completes departmental documentation
- Grandfathered staff at time of merger with military radiologic technologist training
- ARRT registry
- 1 year experience
