Job Summary
Supervise the Racing Department and secure race horses for the meet by managing operations across Racing, Starting Gate, Valets, and Jockey's Quarters. Develop and implement departmental goals, prepare condition books for racing programs, and recruit horsemen for overnight and stakes races. Coordinate purse distributions with accounting, oversee horse entries and stall allocations, and respond promptly to problems in all departmental areas. Ensure compliance with New Mexico Rules of Racing and coordinate with the Racing Commission, stewards, and property security. Manage staff scheduling, training, and performance evaluations while maintaining budgeted labor costs and reporting deviations to the General Manager.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school
- six months to one year related experience and/or training
- equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum Five (5) years Racing Office/Racing Management experience
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
- Team Member must be able to qualify for New Mexico Racing Commission license
