Job Summary
Draft, negotiate, and review commercial and construction contracts including JCT and NEC while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies. Provide expert legal advice on procurement strategy and risk, review governance reports, and manage a varied caseload of contract and procurement matters independently. Support the Principal and Senior Lawyers in safeguarding the Council's interests and managing legal risks across complex, high-value matters. Work on-site at the Civic Centre a minimum of two days per week.
Required Qualifications
- Qualified lawyer
- Previous contract experience
- Litigation rights
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work on a caseload of matters
- Ability to undertake procurement, contract and administrative work
- Ability to keep up to date with developments in the law
- Good research skills
- Organisational skills
- Ability to provide clear and concise legal advice
- Enhanced DBS check
- Ability to be on-site at the Civic Centre a minimum of 2 days a week
