Job Summary
Start up and shut down all X-Ray equipment, properly identify patients, and confirm ordered examinations. Prepares patients for radiological procedures, conducts x-rays following established safety protocols, and obtains detailed patient histories. Use radiation shielding materials, ensure equipment functions appropriately, and report malfunctions to the Lead Radiologic Technologist. Completes procedures in the EMR, obtains pre-authorization for CT scans, and confirms exam availability in PACS. Clarifies discrepancy readings with medical providers, cleans the site, and participates in quality control. Performs basic medical assisting duties including greeting patients, registering them, and triaging incoming phone calls. No on-call responsibilities or overnight shifts required.
Required Qualifications
- Mastery of best practice x-ray procedures and protocols
- Understanding of the anatomy and physiology necessary to perform x-ray testing, including body mechanics and patient movement
- Knowledge of radiology equipment, including safety hazards common to radiology
- Capability to identify equipment issues and troubleshoot problems
- Capacity to apply written instructions and standardized work practices and protocols
- Friendly and outstanding customer service skills
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Basic computer skills, including the use of Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- Minimum High School degree or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program, or a current student with an upcoming graduation date within the next 4-6 months (offer contingent upon successful graduation and ability to obtain required certifications and licensures)
- Active ARRT (The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) Certification and Registration
- Applicable state licensure (as required by state)
- Active Driver's License
