Job Summary
Anchor local, state, national, and international news stories by gathering information via phone, wire, and field reporters, then writing, editing, and delivering live or recorded newscasts on tight deadlines. Contribute story ideas, interact with talk shows as part of an on-air ensemble, and develop contacts and sources for breaking news. Write and post written news articles for the station's digital platforms while adhering to legal issues regarding news gathering and editorial content. This role supports Radio One's mission to be the most trusted media source in the African American community across 13 markets and 70+ stations.
Required Qualifications
- Present a positive and professional attitude and presence at all station events
- High-level written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to communicate around multiple creative projects in a time-sensitive manner
- Strong attention to detail
- Solid organizational and project management skills
- Submit to a criminal background check
- Legal right to work in the United States
- Bachelor's degree
- Newsroom experience
- 3 years of anchor experience
- Equivalent combination of education
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Journalism or Communications
