R&D Surface Treatment Intern

The R&D Surface Treatment Engineer Intern works closely with the Materials & Processes Manager and R&D Surface Treatment Engineer to support all aspects of surface treatment related to aerospace fasteners, including formulation, evaluations and selection of lubrication, plating and coating products, surface preparation and thermal treatments. Responsibilities include assisting with research, development, testing, and proper design of surface treatments; pilots for new product testing; collaboration with production and testing laboratories on evaluation, selection, specification and validation of products (including health and safety analysis, regulatory compliance, environmental and mechanical testing); contributing to technical validation of surface processes (surface preparation, cleaning, plating, coating, and lubrication for prototypes and products in development); evaluating advanced surface treatment solutions for performance and cost; developing test methods and validation plans; coordinating with R&D Lab for equipment operation and reporting; and ensuring compliance with federal/state regulations and internal HSE procedures. Core competencies include analytical thinking, chemical knowledge of coating processes, written and verbal English (French is a plus), teamwork, business acumen, adaptability, planning, and professionalism.
