Job Summary
R&D Sonar Engineer Lead to spearhead development of cutting-edge sonar and underwater acoustic products. Responsibilities include leading technical analysis, software design, hardware development, and signal processing for sophisticated sonar systems; researching new technologies and conducting competitive analyses; overseeing full project lifecycle from planning to testing and launch within timelines and budgets; translating system requirements into concrete design specs; and communicating technical details clearly to stakeholders. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Physics, 7+ years in software/hardware/signal processing for sonar or acoustics, experience with fixed-point arithmetic, phased array and beamforming algorithms, DSP concepts, FPGA programming (Verilog/VHDL), embedded systems development, and strong C/C++/MATLAB skills. Bonus points for experience with commercial Phased Array Multibeam Sonars and ability to work remotely with occasional travel; locations include Alpharetta, GA or Eufaula, AL.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or related field
- At least 7 years of experience in developing software, hardware, or signal processing algorithms for sonar, acoustics, or similar fields
- Experience with fixed-point arithmetic programming, phased array and beamforming algorithms
- DSP concepts, FPGA programming with Verilog or VHDL, embedded systems development
- Strong programming skills in C/C++ and MATLAB
- Project management experience with multi-phase projects
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
