Job Summary
Design and develop innovative linear motor concepts from concept to series production, validating solutions using FEM/CFD simulations and digital twin methodologies. Independently apply design-to-cost principles to optimize product quality and efficiency while ensuring robust solutions through FMEA and DVP methods. Collaborate with procurement, suppliers, and manufacturing to implement new materials and concepts, partnering with cross-functional teams in power electronics, firmware, and software. Work onsite with 10 home office days monthly as a key technical contributor to ABB's Machine Automation division, driving technological leadership in industrial automation solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field from a university or university of applied sciences
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in the design, development, and validation of motors or electromagnetic components
- Good expertise in FEM/CFD simulation, ideally with ANSYS Maxwell, Motor-CAD, or COMSOL
- Solid know-how in winding technology, magnet design, tolerance management, and design for manufacturing/assembly (DFM/DFA)
- Practical experience with quality methods such as FMEA and DVP, as well as industrial product development processes
- Good working knowledge of CAD systems such as CATIA, Creo, or SolidWorks, as well as PLM platforms and relevant IEC/ISO standards
- Very good German and English skills
