R&D Senior Configuration Manager and DevOps Engineer

Job Summary
Lead the CM and DevOps landscape for ABB’s R&D in industrial control applications, shaping version management, packaging and distribution across releases; build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and underlying infrastructure for reliable, scalable, and secure software delivery; automate operational/build tasks and continuously improve CM/DevOps tooling; monitor system health, collaborate with developers to optimize performance, and champion security, compliance, and clear documentation across environments; serve as a technical contact within R&D and share knowledge across ABB’s global CM/DevOps community; contribute to local development of 800xA control parts and next-generation Automation Products; engage in cross-functional collaboration and drive long-term product evolution.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent
- Several years of experience in DevOps and/or software CM
- Hands-on scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash)
- Comfort with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (Azure)
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps) and working with Git-based version control
- Solid grasp of CM and change management practices (branch and release strategies); tooling experience (Ansible, Terraform)
- Strong collaboration, communication, Agile mindset, proactive ownership
- Experience from industrial automation, safety-critical product development (e.g., IEC 61508) or large-scale distributed systems is a plus
