Job Summary
R&D Product Development Manager – Dairy responsible for creating plant-based dairy analogues, collaborating cross-functionally to drive top-line growth and product quality, guiding projects with the ML and research teams, and managing the full product lifecycle from concept to successful commercial launch. Duties include bench-top tests, pilot-plant trials, sensory and instrumental analysis, documentation of specifications, process development, scale-up, technology transfer, and leveraging external resources to optimize timelines. Requires 8+ years in R&D with 4+ years in management, a Bachelor's in food engineering/science (Master’s a plus), strong leadership and communication, experience with suppliers and co-manufacturers, startup experience preferred, and travel ~10% with location in the San Francisco area. Compensation based on experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in food engineering, food science, or a similar discipline
- 8+ years of progressive R&D experience
- at least 4 years of management experience in food products
- experience leading and developing a team
- experience working with ingredient suppliers and co-manufacturers
- experience in a consumer food company; startup experience preferred
- ability to travel at least 10% of the time
- strong planning, project management, and execution skills
- data-driven/analytical capability
- ability to present data to leadership
- comfort working in a matrixed, global environment
- excellent communication skills
