Job Summary
As an R&D Mechanical Technician, you will be involved in fabricating prototype components, manufacturing lightweight structures using composite materials, building jigs and fixtures, and assembling various systems including electrical and propulsion systems for eVTOL aircraft. Key responsibilities include diagnosing issues during testing, collaborating with engineers to ensure designs are manufacturable, and maintaining a safe workshop environment. Required qualifications include relevant degrees or equivalent experience and proficiency with fabrication tools, 3D printing, and composite techniques. Strong hands-on skills with engines and familiarity with electric propulsion systems are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent hands-on technical experience
- Strong proficiency with hand tools, fabrication equipment, adhesives, cutting, bonding, and assembly processes
- Proficiency with 3D printing (FDM, SLA, or similar) and finishing techniques
- Practical experience in composite layup, trimming, and structural bonding
- Hands-on experience with internal combustion engines, including assembly, integration, and testing
- Familiarity with electric propulsion systems (motors, ESCs, wiring, sensors, or BMS integration)
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced prototyping and test environment, supporting rapid iteration cycles
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in aerospace, automotive, UAV, or eVTOL prototype builds
- Working knowledge of adhesives, bonded structures, lightweight materials, and engine-to-electric hybrid integration
- Familiarity with CAD tools (CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, or equivalent)
- Experience with instrumentation, sensors, and data acquisition during system testing
- Understanding of AS9100 or ISO9001 quality practices for prototype fabrication
