Job Summary
R&D Mechanical Engineer (Level I- Sr.) responsible for designing, testing and certifying electrical power products; lead or collaborate on New Product Introduction (NPI) with electrical, mechanical and manufacturing engineers; coordinate with NRTL to define evaluation and certification scope; create detailed design drawings, 3D models, and bill of materials for prototype equipment; develop test plans and execute tests (full-load temperature rise, dielectric and BIL, short-circuit, environmental, seismic); support testing at in-house and third-party labs; travel up to 20% for testing and product development tasks; collaborate with manufacturing to implement Design for Manufacturability; conduct failure analyses and drive continuous improvement; required BS Mechanical Engineering and SolidWorks experience.
Required Qualifications
- BSME or equivalent in experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience designing low and/or medium voltage power distribution equipment
- Experience with NRTL (UL, CSA, etc.) evaluation, testing and certification processes
- Experience with common standards for electrical equipment (UL 891, 1558, 508A; IEEE C37.20, etc.)
- Design Experience using SolidWorks to produce 3D models is highly preferred
