Job Summary
R&D Engineering Intern based at Rocket Lab’s site in Albuquerque, NM, will support the Cell Product team in evolving different technologies that can become production product lines. You’ll work closely with a mentor and peers to apply engineering concepts, tackle real challenges, and grow technically and professionally. Expect regular 1:1s with mentors, participate in tech talks and networking events, and engage in hands-on engineering activities. Must be enrolled in a bachelor’s, master's or doctorate degree program in engineering, physics or math with at least one semester remaining post-internship and a GPA of 3.0+; 3+ months of applied engineering experience required. This is an on-site, full-time internship for 12 consecutive weeks starting August/September 2026; relocation stipends may be available. ITAR-related eligibility applies for US candidates. Required Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in a bachelor’s, master's or doctorate degree program in an engineering, physics or math discipline and have at least one semester of school remaining post internship
- GPA of 3.0 or above
- 3+ months of applied engineering experience (internship, laboratory, and personal/team project experience is applicable)
- Able to work full-time, on-site for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks beginning August or September 2026 (Fall Interns)
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics or math (or pursuing)
- GPA 3.0 or above
- 3+ months of applied engineering experience (internship, laboratory, or project experience)
- Python experience (nice to have)
- 6+ months of applied engineering experience (nice to have)
- Experience with hands-on prototyping (soldering, wire splicing, laser cutting, dispensing, solar cell processing, panel assembly) (nice to have)
- Experience with robotic arms (nice to have)
- Experience with AI tools (nice to have)
- Knowledge of Ohm’s Law and solar cell behavior (I-V curves, efficiency) (nice to have)
- Knowledge of heat transfer principles, circuits, semiconductor physics, thermodynamics (nice to have)
- Ability to work full-time on-site for 12 weeks beginning August/September 2026 (Fall Interns) (required)
- Ability to obtain ITAR considerations as applicable for US candidates (implicit requirement)
- Must be enrolled in a bachelor’s, master's or doctorate degree program in engineering, physics or math discipline
- At least one semester remaining post-internship (required)
