Job Summary
R&D Engineer focused on protein-processing machinery design and prototype development. Responsibilities include designing and prototyping capital equipment for food processing, building and testing prototypes on the shop floor, validating designs, and ensuring safety and sanitary standards. Work spans mechanical systems, electrical/automation, and sanitary fabrication; ensures OSHA/CE compliance and food-safety standards; collaborates with Sales, Manufacturing, and Quality to ensure designs are buildable and meet customer needs. Requires hands-on engineering with CAD proficiency, knowledge of regulatory standards, and strong problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration skills. Travel to support installations and customer activities is expected.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in R&D engineering, preferably within food processing or capital equipment manufacturing environments
- Working knowledge of CAD software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD
- Familiarity with USDA, FDA, and other applicable food safety regulations and standards
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to travel as needed to support equipment installations and customer-related activities
