Job Summary
Develop new processes, equipment, and material characterization techniques while employing efficient experimental design and DOE methods. Solve technical issues during process development and optimization, evaluating potential problems and implementing countermeasures. Document all test procedures, data, and results in compliance with Quality Management System requirements, utilizing statistical tools to improve process control and reduce costs. Provide technical support to group members, facilitate improvements to existing procedures, and ensure all processes adhere to environmental, health, and safety regulations. Manage project proposals, track deliverables, and address barriers to ensure timely completion.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or Metallurgy
- Master's degree
- At least three (3) years of experience in extractive metallurgy, analytical chemistry or a related field
- Hands-on experience in developing and documenting production processes and equipment preferably in a hydrometallurgical, extractive chemistry or mining engineering setup
- In-depth knowledge of standard chemical laboratory methods and practices
- Hands-on experience in operating analytical tools such as AAS, ICP-MS, GDMS, OES and XRF
- Understanding of DOE and statistical data analysis
- High level of flexibility and collaborative relationship skills
- Ability to adapt quickly
- Proactive and takes prompt action to accomplish objectives
- Strong desire to reach goals and work to strict timeliness
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to make detailed observations and write technical reports
- Strong computer skills
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge in the use of SPC tools such as Minitab and JMP
