Job Summary
Lead independent R&D projects for Low Voltage switchgear solutions, managing the full lifecycle from concept through implementation and maintenance. Execute engineering tasks including 2D/3D mechanical design, BOM creation, testing, and validation while applying IEC 61439-2 standards. Propose and implement innovative technologies, identify technical problems, and ensure delivery against quality, time, scope, and cost targets. Document technical work in reusable formats and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and IP creation. This role supports ABB Smart Power's electrification division in Nashik, India, focusing on industrial circuit breakers, motor starting applications, and energy-efficient UPS solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma / Bachelor's / Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
- Minimum 8 years of experience in R&D, product development, or engineering projects in Low Voltage Switchgear
- Strong knowledge of Low Voltage Switchgear systems and IEC 61439-2 standards
- Proficiency in engineering design tool i.e SolidWorks
- Experience with product development processes
- Experience in preparing engineering documentation, including 2D/3D drawings, BOMs, product configurator data, and assembly/engineering instructions
- Solid technical expertise in electrical or mechanical engineering
- Ability to translate customer specifications and Voice of Customer (VoC) into technical solutions
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and engineering calculation skills using mathematical and physical principles
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and English language skills
- Ability to work effectively in a global, cross-functional team
