Job Summary
R&D Electrical Engineer role focused on high voltage and ultra-high voltage applications. Lead technical innovation by modeling and simulating electromagnetic and thermal phenomena in insulation systems; develop future HV product designs including superconducting cable systems; advance understanding of AC/DC electromagnetic phenomena through theory and experiments; build electrical test circuits and perform electro-thermal testing to validate simulations; analyze electrical failures and recommend design or process improvements; contribute to technology and product innovation by identifying creative solutions and mitigating technical and project risks; provide technical advisory support to internal and external stakeholders; initiate and drive R&D projects aligned with NKT’s technology strategy; build and maintain a global network of technical partners and business units. Requires MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering or High Voltage Engineering/Technology, minimum 3 years in R&D, and proficiency in MATLAB, ANSYS, COMSOL, PSPICE, and LabVIEW; strong English communication skills; location at NKT Technology Center in Västerås, Sweden with hybrid work possibilities.
Required Qualifications
- MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering or High Voltage Engineering/Technology
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in R&D or a similar technical role
- Experience with electromagnetic or multiphysics simulations (e.g. FEM)
- Proficient in commercial numerical tools such as MATLAB, ANSYS, COMSOL, PSPICE, and LabVIEW
- Proficient communication skills in spoken and written English
