Job Summary
Demonstrate ethical behavior and maintain confidentiality of student information while working with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of material initially introduced by the teacher. Implement student behavior plans, monitor health concerns, and assist with toileting, personal care, and hygiene as necessary. Support student inclusion in the general education setting consistent with the IEP, facilitate social interaction, and consult daily with teachers and service providers. Assist with organizing desks, homework, and materials while collecting and maintaining data and portfolios. Requires current restraint program certification, ability to lift 50 pounds, and physical stamina for frequent standing, walking, and bending. Reports to the Principal or Special Education Coordinator.
Required Qualifications
- One year of college
- Physical condition so as to be able to manage behavior/physically challenged students
- Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds
- Interest in and exposure with students with disabilities
- Basic understanding of child growth and development
- Current restraint program certification

- Two years of college
