Job Summary
POSITION: Personal Care Teacher Assistant (PCTA) in a K-12 School environment. Support the teacher by working with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning, implement student behavior plans, and assist with classroom organization and data/portfolios. Must be able to assist with toileting/personal care/hygiene, monitor student health concerns with collaboration from the nurse, and maintain confidentiality. Requires current restraint program certification and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds; education-related responsibilities include guiding independent study and enrichment, and coordinating with teachers and other service providers. Reports to the Principal.
Required Qualifications
- One year of college required; two years of college preferred.
- Current restraint program certification.
- Physical condition to manage behavior/physically challenged students; must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Basic understanding of child growth and development.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Principal may find appropriate or acceptable.
