Job Summary
Assist the teacher in a Grade 4/5 classroom as a Personal Care Teacher Assistant, working with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning and help students meet instructional objectives. Responsibilities include implementing student behavior plans, monitoring student health concerns with collaboration from the nurse, providing toileting/personal care as needed, collecting and organizing data/portfolios, helping students stay organized with desk, homework, and class materials, and daily consultation with teachers and other service providers. Requires current restraint program certification and the ability to support student enrichment, remediary work, and social interaction in the classroom.
Required Qualifications
- One year of college required; two years of college preferred.
- Physical condition to manage behavior/physically challenged students; ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Basic understanding of child growth and development.
- Alternatives to qualifications as the Principal may find appropriate.
