Job Summary
Manufacture, label, and store blood products according to Red Cross policies while independently managing high-volume work with minimal supervision. Retrieve products for quarantine, evaluate items for patient release, and operate labeling programs and processes. May irradiate or x-ray blood products for special orders, manage sample tubes for shipment, and perform disposition of unacceptable products. Operate computer programs for component production, maintain accurate inventory locations, and conduct quality control checks on equipment. Prioritize workload to meet production goals and analyze decisions based on visual inspections and departmental information. Work a standard first shift schedule of four weekdays and one weekend day each week.
Required Qualifications
- High School or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of related experience in a regulatory, laboratory, or manufacturing environment
- Ability to use a wide variety of lab or medical equipment
- Ability to use a personal computer and applicable software for sustained periods
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work on a team
- First shift position working 8am-4pm
- Four weekdays and one weekend day each week
- Work Saturdays for one month and then work Sundays the following month
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear
- Frequently lift and/or move objects 10-50lbs unassisted
- Frequently required to push carts weighing up to 100 pounds on flat flooring or ramps
- Frequently required to stand for long periods, walk, stoop, kneel or crouch
- Able to withstand temperatures in a typical blood banking environment including refrigerators and freezers
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of related experience in a regulatory, laboratory, or manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and related experience preferred
- Good computer skills, attention to detail, accurate documentation, and good decision-making skills
- Ability to use a personal computer and applicable software for sustained periods
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work on a team
- Associates degree in science
