Quantum Topological Qubit Advanced Manufacturing Engineer
$85,000–$146,000 year
On-site · Essex Junction, Vermont, United States or Malta, New York, United States
Job Summary
The Principal Engineer leads development, characterization, and optimization of semiconductor process technologies for topological qubits within the Quantum Technology Solutions organization. Responsibilities include developing and optimizing process modules (PVD, CVD, ALD, etch, epitaxial growth such as MBE/MOCVD), engineering advanced materials systems (III-V heterostructures, superconductors, low-loss dielectrics), designing DOE experiments to evaluate materials and device performance, characterizing films with electrical/physical/structural techniques, performing data analysis to identify drivers of variability, developing process recipes to meet device requirements including cryogenic and low-noise performance, integrating process modules into device and BEOL flows, collaborating with device teams to align process behavior with device physics, applying SPC and variability analysis to improve yield, and supporting knowledge transfer and scale-up. Safety and environmental, health, and security requirements are observed.
Required Qualifications
- BS or MS in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or related field
- 5–8+ years of experience in semiconductor process or manufacturing engineering
- Hands-on experience with deposition, etch, or epitaxial processes
- Strong understanding of semiconductor materials and process–device interactions
- Experience with materials characterization and data analysis
- Familiarity with DOE and statistical analysis methods
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Preferred qualifications: superconducting or quantum-relevant materials systems; III-V epitaxy and heterostructure engineering (MBE, MOCVD); BEOL integration/interconnects/advanced packaging; cryogenic materials behavior
