Quantum Computing Research Scientist – Quantum Error Correction - Vice President
On-site · New York City, New York, United States
Job Summary
Lead a research program for universal fault-tolerant quantum computation on existing and near-term quantum hardware; develop and validate circuit gadgets and protocols for FTQC; numerically optimize fault-tolerant gadgets, implement experimental validation, and publish results. Build and maintain a codebase to enable quantum algorithms to run fault-tolerantly on hardware; develop and document analytical, numerical, and experimental results; communicate findings through scientific papers. Proficiency with stabilizer QEC codes (CSS, parity-check matrices, logical and gauge operators, code distance), circuit-level QEC, decoding, and simulations; experience designing fault-tolerant gadgets, magic-state distillation or related techniques; strong software skills in Cirq/Qiskit/Pytket and programming languages (Python, Julia, C++, Rust); exceptional oral and written communication abilities. Preferred candidates have a track record of leading research programs in FTQC, understanding of generalized code surgery and concatenated code constructions, and experience with circuit-level quantum compilation.
