Quantity Surveyor (Yorkshire Water - Capital Projects)

Job Summary
Support the commercial management of assigned projects and contracts from inception through to final account, ensuring works are delivered in a commercially effective and contractually compliant manner. Maintain accurate contract administration, including cost control, value management, and contemporaneous records, while preparing payment applications, invoices, and supporting documentation. Monitor project performance to identify risks and opportunities, manage change control processes, and maximise the recovery of contractual entitlements. Prepare commercial reports, forecasts, and financial statements, and work with operational and finance teams to maintain an accurate understanding of project positions. Manage subcontractor accounts, including procurement support, valuations, and final account settlements. Join Lanes Group's Sapphire Utilities team in Sheffield to improve the resilience of essential wastewater infrastructure across Yorkshire.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience in a Quantity Surveying role
- Experience working within Utilities, Civil Engineering, Infrastructure, Groundworks, or a related sector
- Sound understanding of commercial management principles and contract administration
- Strong financial and commercial awareness with excellent attention to detail
- Good understanding of standard forms of contract, including NEC contracts where applicable
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to build positive client relationships whilst protecting the company's commercial interests
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working on Capital Projects or major infrastructure programmes
- Experience managing subcontractor accounts and supply chain partners
- Professional membership or working towards membership of RICS, ICES, or a similar professional body
- Experience working within the water, utilities, or regulated infrastructure sectors
