Job Summary
Manage the commercial performance of highways and civil engineering projects from initial handover through delivery and final account. Prepare valuations, applications for payment, and cost reports while identifying, pricing, and managing variations and compensation events. Monitor project costs, forecasts, margins, and cash flow, overseeing subcontractor procurement, accounts, and payments. Review contracts to identify commercial risks and opportunities, ensuring completed works are accurately measured and commercially recovered. Provide clear commercial information to senior management throughout project delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Previous Quantity Surveying experience within civil engineering or infrastructure
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project profitability
- Experience managing valuations, variations and final accounts
- Knowledge of subcontractor procurement and commercial management
- Confidence working directly with operational teams and clients
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- The ability to manage multiple projects and competing commercial priorities
- A practical understanding of how works are actually delivered on site
Desired Qualifications
- Formal Quantity Surveying qualifications
- Experience working with NEC contracts
- Backgrounds including: Highways | Surfacing | Road Construction | Civil Engineering | Infrastructure | Groundworks | Utilities | S278 Works | Public Realm | Term Maintenance
