Job Summary
Oversee the monthly ESG analytics production run and provide regular, ad-hoc ESG reporting to investment teams and clients. Develop ESG portfolio overlay strategies to support mandates such as decarbonization, while building and improving analytical tools and dashboards to incorporate ESG data into the investment process. Partner with data vendors and technology teams to resolve data issues, automate recurring analytics, and ensure high-quality datasets. Contribute to client meetings and presentations detailing Barings ESG capabilities, interpreting complex metrics for both technical and non-technical audiences. Liaise with stakeholders across varying seniority levels to drive analysis from problem definition through communication.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in finance, economics, mathematics, statistics, engineering, or a related quantitative field
- 2+ years of relevant experience in an ESG data role, ideally at an ESG vendor or asset manager
- Demonstrated ability to work with and manipulate large ESG datasets
- Ability to interpret and explain portfolio ESG metrics to investment teams as well as to less technical audiences
- Ability to work functionally with data and code, such as Python, SQL, PowerBI, Excel or comparable tools, to analyse data
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex ESG concepts clearly and confidently
- Demonstrated judgment, intellectual curiosity, ownership mindset, and ability to independently drive analysis from problem definition through stakeholder communication
- Knowledge of regulatory ESG frameworks such as TCFD, SFDR, TNFD etc
- Comfort with manipulating large data sets
- Experience of Python, SQL, Excel, PowerBI or similar
Desired Qualifications
- Some knowledge of fixed income investment markets
- Familiarity with buy-side risk and portfolio analytics platforms, such as Aladdin, Refinitiv, Bloomberg, MSCI ESG Manager or comparable tools
- Working towards or interest in pursuing CFA, CFA sustainable investment certificate or other industry qualification
- Interest in sustainable investments and desire to apply that in financial markets
