Job Summary
Conduct inspection and testing of materials, components, and finished products against specifications using precision instruments and specialized equipment. Document results, maintain logs for traceability, and flag defects to supervisors for corrective action while supporting quality control processes and audits. Work with engineering to execute change controls, investigate deviations, and conduct controlled document revisions for quality processes. Perform laboratory testing and non-destructive testing to evaluate equipment and support manual and automated production tasks involving energetic materials. Maintain a clean environment and strictly follow standard operating procedures and safety rules. This onsite role in Penrose, CO reports to the Quality Manager and requires working with explosives.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 3 – 7 years of experience in quality assurance within engineering, manufacturing, or construction environments
- Experience working within an ISO 9001-certified organization
- Measurement and inspection proficiency – Skilled use of precision instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMMs) and the ability to accurately read blueprints/engineering drawings to verify parts meet dimensional and tolerance specifications
- Understanding of quality standards and statistical methods – Familiarity with quality systems like ISO 9001, Six Sigma, or industry-specific standards (e.g., AS9100, IATF 16949), plus basic statistical process control (SPC) to interpret data, spot trends, and catch defects before they become bigger problems
- Attention to detail with strong documentation habits – The ability to consistently notice small deviations or defects, combined with clear, accurate record-keeping for traceability, audits, and root-cause investigations
