Quality Technician I

Job Summary
Conduct daily testing and inspection of fire apparatus, including pumps, ladders, and related equipment, to verify conformance with NFPA, FAA, and statutory requirements. Perform NDT weld inspections using magnetic particles and liquid dye penetration, while auditing shop orders and change orders against engineering bulletins and supplier manuals. Document non-conformances, verify rework, and prepare ROPCs and certificates of conformance. Provide instruction to production employees and demonstrate apparatus functionality for dealers and customers as required. Actively participate in lean and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years' experience in the operation or maintenance of Fire Apparatus
- Must have thorough product knowledge, including functional operation
- Must understand and be able to follow documented Test and Inspection Procedures
- Must be able to operate electronic diagnostic machinery
- Knowledge of computer skills (Baan, E-ONE Portal, Data Entry, Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Ability to effectively communicate and interact with customers and fellow employees
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of FAA and NFPA
- Obtain CDL license (Class A or B) within 12 months
- High school graduate or General Education Diploma
- Attention to detail
- Strong work ethic
- Must possess advanced problem-solving skills from identification through root cause resolution
